Albayalde’s first task to incoming PNP chief: Get rid of erring cops
Incoming Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director Oscar Albayalde has been ordered to prioritize the dismissal from service of negligent cops.
This was the first task given to him by Interior and Local Government officer-in-charge Eduardo Año, who believes that if a total clean-up happens, the DILG will become the “best department in the government.”
“My first instruction to incoming PNP chief Albayalde is to go after PNP personnel who are a disgrace to their uniform, especially those who are AWOL, sleeping, non-performing, and drinking on the job. All of them should be dismissed from the service,” Año said.
“I told General Albayalde to cleanse the police ranks of bad eggs in order to make the DILG the best department in government,” he added.
Año stressed the need to conduct more surprise inspections to get rid of the non-performing police officers.
Albayalde is set to step into office on April 18. He was personally endorsed to President Rodrigo Duterte by outgoing PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa who will retire on April 21.
