MANILA — A task force will be formed to implement the new policy against out-of-line and “colorum” vehicles, which will fine P1 million for first offense violators.

The task force willl be composed of several members from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), along with Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).

In a Joint Administrative Order (JAO), higher penalties against “colorum” vehicles will be implemented starting on Thursday.

To protect motorists from extortion, LTFRB said that the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Highway Patrol Group, and traffic enforcers from local government units are not deputized to implement the order.

The P1 million fine for first time offenders also comes with a penalty which will impound the vehicle for at least three months.

Meanwhile, second time offenders will face franchise cancellation and operators will also be blacklisted and will no longer be allowed to operate other public utility vehicles.
