MANILA — Global lighting company Feilo Sylvania has entered the Philippine market as it sees a huge potential for its business here.

Lighting brands such as Concord, Lumiance, Sylvania, and Yaming merged into one company called Feilo Sylvania, which launched its Philippine office on Monday.

“We chose the Philippines as one of our business ventures in Southeast Asia region because we see that the Philippines enjoys the fastest economic speed,” Feilo Sylvania Chairman Zhuang Shenan said in a press briefing.

“We see a strong potential here. You have a large population, huge economic growth and favorable environment,” said Zhuang, who is also the President of Shanghai Feilo Acoustics Co., Ltd., the majority owner of Feilo Sylvania.

Feilo Sylvania Philippines, Inc. Country Manager Vicente Adorable considered it an opportune time for the company to penetrate the Philippine market with construction boom in both public and private sectors.

“We are very excited because we have a complete range of products that we can offer to the construction market, the opportunities that we have here in the Philippines,” Adorable said.

Its product portfolio includes LED lamps as well as LED lightings for industrial, indoor, and street and tunnel uses.

“We have products that cater to various types of projects whether it’s a high rise project, lighting malls, or even infrastructure projects or roadway,” he said.

Adorable further said the company is eyeing to participate in the initiatives of the local government units (LGUs) to replace traditional lighting technology of lampposts to LED lights.

He said it can also offer design capabilities and provide some financing scheme for the replacements of old street lights to LED lights.

He noted there is an increasing awareness of the benefits of LED lights in the National Capital Region (NCR).

About 70 percent of the market in NCR have “accepted” the LED technology and shifted to LED lightings, he added.

In the provinces, however, the conversion to the new technology of lighting remains low as the investment cost for LED lights is more expensive than buying the traditional lights.

Feilo Sylvania Southeast Asia General Manager Hiew Kim Swee noted that in ASEAN, only 20 percent of the market shifted to LED lights, which save 50 to 80 percent of energy.

Aside from tapping opportunities in big construction projects in the country, Feilo Sylvania also aims to offer its product in the retail market.
