B.C. killer sentenced to life, no parole for 20 years for killing women

DUNCAN, B.C. — A 26-year-old Vancouver Island man has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 20 years for murdering two women.

William Elliott received the prison term in a Duncan, B.C., courtroom, after pleading guilty last year to second-degree murder in the deaths of 42-year old Karrie-Ann Stone and 18-year old Tyeshia Jones.

Stone’s charred body was found in a wooded area southwest of Duncan July 12, 2010.

Friends have said she struggled with drug addiction, but was trying to turn her life around.

Jones went missing Jan. 22, 2011, after leaving a friend’s party, and her naked body was found six days later in a wooded area near a cemetery on Cowichan Tribes land.

The Crown had asked Elliott serve a 25-year term before he would be eligible for parole, while Elliott’s defence called for a 12-to-15 year term.
