Palace to Cam: Don’t make CA venue to personally grind Sec. De Lima

MANILA — The Commission on Appointments (CA) is not the proper venue to take on personal issues against presidential appointees, a Malacanang official on Saturday said.

This was the statement made by deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte after whistleblowers’ association president Sandra Cam threatened to bare alleged sex videos of Justice Sec.

Cam said that she would release four cuts of alleged videos of Sec.

De Lima’s ‘illicit affairs’ with her driver and bodyguard if the Secretary gets confirmed by the CA.

It can be recalled that the whistleblowers’ president has disapproved of De Lima for turning pork-barrel scam beneficiary Ruby Tuason become a state witness.

“We do not respond to threats of any nature,” Valte said in an interview over state-run dzRB radio referring to Cam’s threat to bare De Lima’s alleged sex videos. “It’s prudent not to respond to threats like this.

”

Valte stressed that the purpose of the CA confirmation was to weigh the capacity of a President’s appointee to fulfill her duty.

“If you can’t get what you want, maybe you shouldn’t use the CA as a venue to pursue whatever axe it is you have to personally grind against Sec.

De Lima,” Valte said.
