REGINA — Two lovers found guilty of plotting to kill their spouses have had their appeal heard in Regina.

Curtis Vey and Angela Nicholson were sentenced to three years in prison last September after a jury found them each guilty of two counts of conspiracy to commit murder.

They were charged in 2013 after Vey’s wife, Brigitte, made a secret recording of the two discussing how to best set a house on fire and when to meet once the deed was done.

The Crown had argued that the pair also planned to kill Nicholson’s husband, Jim Taylor, by drugging him and then making him disappear.

Throughout the trial the pair insisted it was just talk and neither planned to actually carry out the plot.

The appeal decision is reserved and won’t be released until the new year.
