CLARK, Pampanga — Fresh from their engagements in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull arrived in the Philippines Sunday.

Phuc and Turnbull were the last two world leaders to arrive at the Clark International Airport this day for the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits in Manila.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister landed on the tarmac at 4:19 p.m. via Vietnam Airlines.

He was welcomed by National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr.

On the other hand, the Royal Australian Air Force aircraft carrying Turnbull arrived at the Clark International Airport a few minutes past four in the afternoon.

The welcoming party was led by Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia.

According to reports, the Australian leader will be visiting the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ headquarters at Camp Aguinaldo on Monday.

In Manila, Turnbull will be joining the 12th East Asia Summit and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Summit.

Both are member economies of APEC, which is hosted by Vietnam this year.

Vietnam is one of the 10 member states of ASEAN, while Australia is a dialogue partner of ASEAN.

ASEAN also has a free trade agreement with Australia.
