Pasay police names suspect in Grab driver killing
The suspect in the killing of Grab driver Gerardo Amolato Maquidato Jr. was identified by the Pasay City Police on Monday.
According to an Inquirer report, the suspect was identified as Narc Delemio, 25 years old, also known as “Nikolo” or “Miko.”
The authorities were able to identify the suspect through the help of his live-in partner, Giselle, who coordinated with the Pasay City Police.
Giselle admitted to the police that her cellphone was used by Delemios to book a ride with a Grab car, a Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS), at 7:15 p.m. last October 26 along F.B. Harrison Street. Delemios was supposed to be dropped off by Maquidato at a mall in Taguig City.
Initial police reports said a witness heard a gunshot at around 7:50 p.m. and saw a lifeless man dumped out of a silver Toyota Innova. The witness narrated that after dumping the dead body, the suspect fled using the victim’s vehicle.
It was found out that Delemios and a certain Jeric Lim have a standing warrant of arrest for a slay case I 2014 issued by Judge Rolando How of the Parañaque Regional Trial Court Branch 257 last February 3, 2015.
Assistant chief of police for operations Supt. Gene Licud said that the suspect is expected to surrender to the police Monday afternoon.
Maquidato, who was hailed as “good Samaritan,” was killed on October 26.
He went viral on social media months ago and was praised for helping a sick passenger undergoing dialysis. The Grab driver helped his passenger to pick up bags of blood, but did not ask for payment for the trip out of kindness. Maquidato was also lauded by the TNVS as one of its “best drivers.”
