Jinggoy asks Senate to subpoena Inquirer’s Luy files
MANILA — Senator Jinggoy Estrada said on Monday that the Senate blue ribbon committee should subpoena the digital files of Benjur Luy, the principal whistle blower in the pork barrel scam, from the Philippine Daily Inquirer (Inquirer).
Estrada, who is being implicated in the scam, reiterated the request in order to authenticate the details in Luy’s files. He said that compelling Inquirer to submit their copy will allow the Senate to identify more lawmakers involved in the scam.
Inquirer’s copy was reported to have been taken from Luy’s files, which were contained in a hard drive turned over by Luy’s parents and his former lawyer, Levito Baligod to Inquirer last year.
Estrada also complained about the alleged implication of only three senators in newspaper reports about the pork scam when he said that a number of lawmakers were also included in the list.
“Mukha yatang unfair sa aming tatlo. (It seems unfair for the three of us),” Estrada said.
Teofisto Guingona III, the Senate blue ribbon committee chair however, was not present during the session.
Just like Estrada, Senators Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.
and Juan Ponce Enrile are also facing plunder complaints before the Office of the Ombudsman for their alleged involvement in the pork scam.
