NCRPO on full alert status for ‘National Day of Protest’

MANILA— The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has placed all of its units on full alert status to ensure that no untoward incidents will mar Thursday’s commemoration of the “National Day of Protest”.

“In line with the Declaration of National Day of Protest, be informed that NCRPO is on full alert status,” said NCRPO spokesperson Chief Insp. Kimberly Molitas on Wednesday.

The police command is responsible for securing Metro Manila against criminals and other lawless elements.

“Attendance of personnel during the accounting is required and will remain on stand-by alert in their respective offices to perform their duties and responsibilities and be ready for possible deployment in areas of protests/rallies if situation requires,” she noted.

September 21 is the 45th anniversary of President Ferdinand E. Marcos’ declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines.

Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte’s declared the above-mentioned date as a “National Day of Protest” and announced the suspension of classes in public schools and government offices.
