PRRD appoints 3 Bucor deputy directors
MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed three new deputy directors at the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), the Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Friday.
The President appointed Melvin Ramon Garrido Buenafe, Valfrie Gacias Tabian, and Heriberto Obias Olitoquit as new deputy directors of BuCor, DOJ Undersecretary Erickson Balmes said.
Buenafe replaces former BuCor Deputy Director Rolando Asuncion; while Tabian and Olitoquit assumed the posts vacated by officials Ricardo Pasamba and Martin Perfecto, respectively.
President Duterte has yet to appoint a BuCor head following the irrevocable resignation of former director-general Benjamin delos Santos last July 13.
Until a new director general has been appointed, DOJ Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II will continue to supervise and manage the BuCor, an attached agency of the DOJ.
