MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is more than ready to implement President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to let members of the media cover and document the police’s anti-drug operations.

This was emphasized by PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos in a Radyo Pilipinas report Thursday.

What he is more worried about is the safety of the participating journalists and broadcasters in the event that a shootout occurs between police officers and the suspects.

Duterte issued this instruction to the PNP in order to prove to the public that guns and other pieces of evidence are not planted on the suspects.

The President earlier said that he would only defend security forces if their actions were done in the performance of duty, stressing that he would never allow troops to kill defenseless persons, including enemies of the state.
