De Lima supports Callamard’s request to investigate ‘all unlawful deaths’
The detained Senator Leila De Lima supported the United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions Agnes Callamard’s request to probe the alleged transgressions on drug operations conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
“If this administration has nothing to hide, it should wave its inflexible conditions and allow Callamard to conduct a fact-finding investigation into the extrajudicial and summary killings under the all-out war on drugs,” De Lima said.
The Senator expressed her outrage over President Rodrigo Duterte’s attitude towards Callamard after the human rights advocate’s call to investigate “all unlawful deaths” in the Philippines.
“He (the President) is in his usual default in fending off criticisms, especially coming from international experts like Dr. Callamard. He intimidates, insults and even threatens people who dare to oppose him and his policy,” she said.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) advocate posted a series of tweets showing her sympathy on the recent drug operation of the PNP in Caloocan City, which killed the 17-year-old student Kian Lloyd de los Santos .

Earlier, Callamard caught the attention of the President after she criticized the Duterte administration’s take on suppressing the illegal drugs in the country, that is why he expressed rage against her.
“Pumunta ka dito. Ayaw naman makipag-debate. Kasi kung makipag-debate ‘yan, in five questions, gawain kong t**** ‘yang buang na ‘yan [Come here. She does not want to have a debate. In five questions, I will make that crazy look like a fool].” President said.
“Sabihin pa, ‘O, last na itong kay Kian ha? ‘Pag meron pa…’ P*** (She said “Kian should be the last…if there’s another one…b****). Who are you to say that? Kaya b***** s*** ko (So I cursed at her),” he added.
