WHISTLER, BRITISH COLUMBIA – Following a sell-out inaugural year, the Whistler Village Beer Festival has announced that it will be kicking off ticket sales for the September 13 event on June 5, 2014. Only the Early Bird ($30 – discounted rate) and Gatecrasher ($45 – one-hour early access to the festival grounds) tickets will be released – with limited numbers they’re expected to sell out fast. The General Admission ($35) tickets will be released the following a week on June 12, 2014. All tickets include a 4-ounce sampling mug, five sampling tokens and a $5.00 food voucher for use at participating Whistler restaurants.

Set in the Whistler Olympic Plaza with Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains as backdrop, over 4000 people will enjoy a showcase of brewing talent from Canada and the Pacific Northwest with a particular focus on British Columbia. The Whistler Village Beer Festival was designed to be interesting and accessible for and enjoyable everyone – from the breweries themselves and certified cicerones, to the everyday beer drinker who simply enjoys a good pint.

There will be over 50 breweries in attendance including Red Racer, winner of 2013 ‘Best in Fest’ award, Whistler Brewery, and Deep Cove Brewers. The event attracts the “big boy brewers” like Philips, Granville Island, and Deschutes as well as some of the smaller operations like Four Winds, Parallel 49, and Gigantic.

New for this year the festival organizers have expanded to a four-day line up of beer-focused events starting September 11, including cask nights, seminars, parties, award ceremonies, and brunches including:

Beer 101 – Explore Whistler’s own brewery followed by an insightful educational journey through the magic and wonder of beer with Ken Beattie of Eureka Beer Guide, Prud’Homme & BeerCertificate.ca

Best in West Cask Showdown – A showdown of carefully selected, talented and infamous brewers in the West Coast of America putting their special cask ales head to head with one another.

The Butcher & The Brewmaster – A roving, street market style event where craft beers are carefully paired with artisan meats, cheeses and rocking live music from Ruckus Deluxe.
