Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has sought to attract more American investors by assuring them that his administration will not increase business taxes, emphasizing the city’s commitment to maintaining a predictable environment for companies.
Domagoso made the assurance while promoting Manila as an investment destination, highlighting the local government’s efforts to make it easier for businesses to operate and expand.
He said keeping business taxes stable would help build investor confidence and encourage more companies to establish or strengthen their presence in the capital.
The mayor also underscored Manila’s economic potential, pointing to its large consumer market, workforce and role as a center of commerce.
The investment pitch comes as the Philippines continues to pursue stronger economic partnerships with the United States. Recent bilateral initiatives have focused on attracting private-sector investment in infrastructure, energy, digital connectivity and advanced manufacturing.
The Luzon Economic Corridor, a partnership among the Philippines, the United States and Japan, is one such initiative aimed at expanding investment and strengthening supply chains.
Domagoso’s assurance forms part of the city government’s broader effort to position Manila as a business-friendly destination and generate more economic activity and employment opportunities.
