Logan Lake, British Columbia, will retain much of its municipal leadership after longtime Mayor Robin Smith was acclaimed for another term and four incumbent councillors secured re-election in the October 17 local elections.
Smith’s latest acclamation continues her tenure as mayor, a position she first assumed in 2014 after serving two terms as a councillor from 2008 to 2014.
Councillor Nicole Hampton-Montgomery led the council race with 485 votes, followed by Amber Chong with 481, Peter Martell with 433 and Jim McNeely with 384.
Two newcomers, Toby Forrest and Clint Bernier, will also join the six-member council after receiving 411 and 338 votes, respectively.
Candidates Tristan Gillis and Eric Bly were unsuccessful, garnering 292 and 251 votes.
Martell, who has served on the district council since 2018, will remain its most senior member among those seeking another term.
The election also marks the departure of Garry Youd, who opted not to run again after serving 30 years on council. Lawrence Hart, elected in 2022, likewise chose not to seek re-election.
