Duterte lawyer asks ICC to screen digital evidence before November 30 trial

The legal team of former President Rodrigo Duterte has asked the International Criminal Court (ICC) to screen digital evidence before his scheduled trial on November 30.

The request comes as the ICC prepares for proceedings over alleged crimes against humanity linked to Duterte’s war on drugs.

The defense is seeking the court’s review of digital materials ahead of the trial, as both sides work to finalize the evidence and witnesses that will be presented.

The submission originated from the Office of the Prosecutor on August 31 and was formally filed by Deputy Prosecutor Mame Mandiaye Niang, according to the report.

The ICC had earlier set November 30, 2026 as the start of Duterte’s trial, with the parties required to complete their evidence and witness submissions ahead of the proceedings.

The case stems from allegations surrounding the killings associated with Duterte’s anti-drug campaign during his presidency and earlier tenure as Davao City mayor.
