Malacañang assured the public that agreements under the US-led Pax Silica initiative will not disadvantage the Philippines, amid concerns over the country’s commitments under the proposed project.
The Palace said the government will ensure that any agreements protect Philippine interests while maximizing potential economic benefits from investments in artificial intelligence, semiconductors and advanced technology.
The initiative is expected to create jobs and attract investments, but concerns have also been raised over its possible impact on energy, water resources, the environment, farmers and Indigenous communities.
As scrutiny grows, the administration maintains that economic opportunities must go hand in hand with safeguards for Filipinos.
The promise is clear: technology and investment should move the country forward—not come at the expense of Philippine interests.
