PHILIPPINES – House prosecution panel member and Bicol Saro Party-list Representative Terry Ridon described the testimony of former Office of the Vice President official Gina Acosta as a possible “smoking gun” in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Ridon said Acosta’s testimony could already be sufficient to establish the prosecution’s allegations involving the alleged misuse of confidential funds at the Office of the Vice President.
According to Ridon, Acosta’s statements provide important information that could strengthen the prosecution’s case as it presents evidence before the Senate sitting as an impeachment court.
The prosecution continues to assess the testimonies and other evidence presented in the trial as it seeks to substantiate the allegations against Duterte.
Meanwhile, the impeachment proceedings are expected to continue with the presentation of additional evidence and witnesses from both the prosecution and defense.
