The Philippine National Police is expanding its investigation into the shooting at a private school in Zamboanga City, with authorities now examining the digital trail of the child in conflict with the law involved in the incident.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said investigators recovered a cellphone and other personal belongings from the minor. The device is now being examined as part of efforts to determine the CICL’s online activities before, during, and after the shooting.
Authorities are also investigating how the incident was broadcast online and are looking into the possibility that the minor may have been active on online games or other digital platforms prior to the shooting.
The PNP said the digital evidence could help investigators establish whether any online activity, communication, or platform was connected to the incident and may provide additional

Nartatez emphasized that investigators are not limiting the probe to the physical evidence recovered from the scene. The police are also tracing the minor’s digital footprint to establish a clearer timeline of events and determine what may have influenced or prompted the incident.
“We are also looking into the online activities of the minor, including possible involvement in online games or other digital platforms, to determine whether these had any connection to the incident,” Nartatez said.
The PNP continues to coordinate with concerned authorities as the investigation into the school shooting progresses.
