Pasig court extends suspension of P85 minimum wage hike in Metro Manila

The Pasig City Regional Trial Court has extended the suspension of the P85 daily minimum wage increase for workers in Metro Manila, issuing a preliminary injunction against its implementation on the same day the earlier temporary restraining order (TRO) was set to expire.

The court’s order keeps the wage hike on hold, meaning minimum wage earners in the National Capital Region have yet to receive even the first tranche of the increase, which was supposed to amount to P60.

The TRO that preceded the injunction had already delayed the rollout of the wage adjustment. With the Pasig RTC now issuing a preliminary injunction instead of allowing the restraining order to lapse, the suspension continues, leaving the timeline for the wage hike’s implementation uncertain.

The P85 increase was intended to raise the daily minimum wage for workers across Metro Manila, with the amount to be released in tranches. 

The first tranche of P60 has yet to reach workers because of the ongoing legal challenge.
