PHILIPPINES – On Saturday, July 18, Mayor Leni Robredo fired back against a troll accusing her of being a liar and hiding her trips to Manila.

“I don’t usually respond to trolls. It’s a waste of time and they don’t deserve any attention. I am going to make an exception, ngayon lang,” she said in her post. She revealed that this troll, presumably under a fake name, started since the beginning of her taking office as the mayor of Naga. While this was not an isolated incident, she stated that she would only focus on the accusations currently being held against her.

Robredo clarified that she does not go to Manila every week. Her scheduled visits are once a month and usually on Thursdays and Fridays so she can spend her Saturdays with her daughters who are in Manila. Her returns are always on Sundays and she added that this information was easily verifiable because of her constant updates on what she does.

Her visits to Manila are to ask for aid, usually to National Government Agencies and private partners. She also said that Naga has received nearly P1Billion in aid due to the continued efforts. “Kahit official ang lakad, NEVER akong nag charge ng travel expenses sa City Government. This is easily verifiable. In fact, we are preparing the report to respond to a request to post the travel expenses of all elected city officials. Kahit nga napakamahal ng pamasahe to Agusan when I went for the Palaro, personal expense yun,” she said. “I don’t use a government-owned car and don’t charge my gasoline usage to the City. Ang gamit ko, Aika’s old Tucson which she bought in 2012 but is still in very good condition.”

Further, the now deleted post was posted last Wednesday, when she was supposed to attend a Mayors League Meeting in Cebu. She was requested by Mayor Francis Zamora to be present when they appointed her as Adviser for Intergovernmental Affairs. That Wednesday, she went to the office from 6-9am, and only left at 9 to go to the airport. Unfortunately, her flight was cancelled, so she returned to the office after lunch and was in the office the entirety of Thursday, before taking a bus to Manila in the evening to attend set meetings with QC Government and COMELEC on July 17.

She finished off her post with an emphatic: “NO TO FAKE NEWS🤑🤑”
