SOUTH KOREA – On July 10, Friday, singer-songwriter and actress IU and actor Lee Jongsuk reportedly confirmed their breakup. IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, and Lee Jongsuk’s agency, ACE FACTORY, both confirmed the speculations. Further, they added that the two decided to remain on good terms as colleagues who support each other.
Their relationship was confirmed on December 2022, after first meeting in 2012 as co-hosts to the SBS music program “Inkigayo.” After accepting the Grand Prize at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards, Lee Jongsuk showed gratitude for someone “who guided me positively and helped me think positively when I had many fears after completing my military service,” and later confirmed that this was meant for IU.
Fans showed great love and support for the tandem, with both stars revealing to their fans how much they meant to each other in fan letters and social media updates.
Despite the split, both celebrities will be pushing through with recent projects: IU is set to release a new album and to perform at Goyang in September and Lee Jongsuk is currently preparing for the release of the original series “The Remarried Empress,” adapted from the Naver webtoon of the same name.
