WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the U.S. military has initiated a series of strikes against Iran in retaliation for alleged Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
“U.S. Central Command forces have begun launching a series of powerful strikes against Iran to impose heavy costs for targeting and attacking commercial shipping,” a U.S. military statement said.
While the exact U.S. targets were not detailed, Iranian media reported that six projectiles struck the Taheroui pier area in Sirik, southern Iran.
These actions mark the first known U.S. military strikes against Iran since late last month, which had previously seen several days of mutual exchanges between the two nations.
