OTTAWA, Ontario — More than 27,900 travellers were brought back to Canada from Cuba by Canadian airlines, following the worsening shortages of fuel, electricity, and basic necessities in the Caribbean country.
The said shortages reportedly also affect services at tourist facilities and the country’s ground mass transportation, prompting all Canadian airlines, including Air Canada, WestJet, Sunwing, and Air Transat, to suspend their services in Cuba until further notice.
Global Affairs Canada (GAC) said that while international flights remain available, passengers going to Cuba are advised to thoroughly consider the existing risks.
