EDMONTON, Alberta — The International Migrants Alliance (IMA) is set to hold its “Half the Sky” cultural event at the Stanley Milner Library on March 8 in commemoration of the annual International Working Women’s Day.
The event will center on how imperialist powers continuously exploit and oppress women through low wages, lack of benefits, and dangerous workplaces, notably in Venezuela, the Levant region, and Palestine, spanning domains and global hemispheres.
“In the face of these challenges, it is more important than ever for women to unite and resist against exploitation and oppression, joining larger movements for liberation against imperialism,” Migrante Alberta (MA) wrote in a post.
“Women oppose the imperialist culture that serves to uphold the ruling elite by spreading ignorance and setting working class people against each other,” it added.
