NUUK, Greenland — Canada opened its first consulate in Greenland at the country’s capital, on Friday, strengthening collaboration in the Arctic region and partnerships with Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark.
“Canada thanks Greenland for its support as Canada’s new consulate opens in Nuuk to strengthen cooperation on Arctic governance, security and people-to-people ties for a stable and prosperous Arctic,” the Global Affairs Canada (GAC) wrote on a post.
“The consulate will advance Canada’s interests, enhance diplomatic and commercial relations and support Indigenous mobility, research collaboration and engagement across key policy areas,” it added.
The new Canadian consulate is co-located with Iceland’s Consulate General in Nuuk.
