TACLOBAN CITY — DPWH Sec. Vince Dizon ordered Wednesday the DPWH Regional Office 8 to concentrate its efforts on the rehabilitation of the Calbiga Bridge in Calbiga, Samar that links the area to Tacloban City, Leyte.
According to the DPWH secretary, the plan for the bridge will be sent to the DPWH Central Office beforehand to ensure that its retrofitting will be built and accomplished with an appropriate budget.
“Gawin na lang natin ng maayos, ng tama. ‘Wag niyo nang tipirin,” said Dizon during the inspection.
(They better do it orderly, and right. Don’t they dare spend the budget frugally.)
The department added that it is eyeing to decongest traffic in the area soon, as well as to raise the bridge’s load limit once again after a 15-ton load restriction policy was implemented since October 2025.
