MANILA, Philippines – NatureNest Accelerator is a project from the Accelerating Green and Climate Finance in the Philippines: Nature-based Solutions (AGCF) Project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in the Philippines, in coordination with the Department of Finance, and funded by the government of Canada.
It was a six-month program that aimed to support ten high-potential nature-based enterprises and enhance their business resilience. They strongly encouraged applications from enterprises led by indigenous peoples and women.
The deadline was on June 22, 2025, following three phases: build for June to July 2025; grow for August to September 2025; scale for October to December 2025, with the impact showcase dated for December 2025.
According to a recent post of the Embassy of Canada in the Philippines, it seems there will be an impact showcase this March 2026 as well.
Nature-based enterprises are essential as their goals are the protection of ecosystems that shield communities from natural calamities and center around creating livelihoods that are productive for the locals and are done with respect to the biodiversity within these respective areas.
More attention being brought to these solutions brings good things towards the indigenous and rural communities, as well as improves their food and water security and protection against climate disasters.
