MANILA – The Philippines continued to advance its dairy and milk production with the help of the government’s programs, the National Dairy Authority (NDA) reported on Monday.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the value of dairy production increased by 27.7 percent, reaching PHP1.667 billion in 2025 from PHP1.305 billion in 2024.

The total milk output also increased by 12 percent, reaching 43.30 million liters from 38.60 million liters for the same period.

In a statement, NDA Administrator Marcus Antonius Andaya attributed these results to the government’s continued efforts to support and develop the dairy industry.

“The substantial growth in dairy output in 2025 was achieved despite the absence of dairy animal importation, demonstrating the effectiveness of the National Dairy Authority’s dairy development programs,” he said.

These programs include enhancement in animal nutrition, herd expansion, and farm management.

Andaya said the increase in production helped boost the country’s overall milk sufficiency.

“These gains were supported by a 5 percent increase in total dairy animal inventory, from 154,252 to 161,868 head, which translated into higher milk sufficiency at a 2.22 increase. This brings us closer to our target of 5 percent milk sufficiency by 2028,” he said.

The NDA reported a 27 percent increase in milk production among goats and a 4 percent increase among cattle.

Carabao milk output, likewise, grew by 24 percent with the ongoing efforts of the Philippine Carabao Center.
