TAGUIG CITY — The local government of Taguig City and the Portal Organization unveiled Asia’s first Portal sculpture in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) on Wednesday.
Dubbed the “Manila Portal”, the sculpture is located at 5th Avenue in Bonifacio High Street.
These Portals are known for their live-stream feature, which switches locations every three minutes, allowing people around the world to connect and interact.
“This is a powerful reminder that distance doesn’t have to divide us. Through innovation, creativity, and public spaces that bring people together, Taguig continues to grow as a city that is open, curious, and globally connected—while staying rooted in inclusivity and shared experiences,” Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano wrote on a post.
“The opening of our first Portal in Asia is a powerful and exciting moment for us. Bringing the Portal to BGC in Manila—a city known for genuine warmth and deep sense of human connection—expands our vision of a world connected not by borders, but by direct human encounter. We cannot wait to welcome Filipinos into this shared global experience,” said Portals Organization Founder Benediktas Gylys in a separate statement.
Overall, the Manila Portal is the sixth in the world, with the others located across Europe and the United States, while a seventh sculpture will soon be unveiled in Brazil.
