MANILA – Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. on Thursday paid tribute to military personnel for their efforts in keeping the peace, allowing the nation to observe the Yuletide season.

“To the gallant men and women of the AFP, I extend my deepest gratitude and warmest wishes to all of you. This Yuletide season reminds us of the peace you have helped secure for our beloved country,” he said in a statement.

He said the service and sacrifices made by gallant Filipino troops reflect the essence of Christmas — selflessness, duty, and empathy for countrymen.

“This Christmas season is a great opportunity for us to reflect on the strength of unity — the connection that unites all members of the AFP with the Filipino people, who continue to stand with us in steadfast support,” he added.

He also greeted Filipinos this Yuletide Season.

“Your trust and encouragement strengthen the AFP. Thank you for your unwavering support and collective efforts in ensuring that the peace that we uphold remains preserved through our shared commitment as one strong and united Philippines,” he said.

Brawner also expressed hope that this Christmas Season renews the country’s dedication in attaining lasting peace, deepens the bonds of unity, and inspires all to face the year ahead with purpose and dignity.

Meanwhile, Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. reminded Filipinos not to forget all those suffering from the effects of conflict and climate change and lend a hand if possible.

“In this season of giving, let us not forget our brothers and sisters suffering from conflict, displacement, and the adverse effects of climate change. Let us give them a helping hand and pray for their safety, healing, and recovery,” he said in a statement.

Galvez made this appeal as the OPAPRU extended its warmest greetings to Filipinos as the country celebrated the “birth of the Prince of Peace and Savior Jesus Christ.”

“Jesus was born into this world not in a palace filled with riches, but in a humble manger. This reminds us of God’s greatest gift to humanity — His unconditional love for every one of us, which is symbolized by His Son, the Prince of Peace,” he said.
