56th WNCAA kicks off at Makati Coliseum Sept. 6

MANILA – All is set for the 56th season of the Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (WNCAA) kickoff at the Makati Coliseum on Sept. 6.

The Assumption College San Lorenzo (Makati) is hosting this year’s edition, which carries the theme “Breaking Barriers, Building Legacies.”

WNCAA chairperson Vivian Manila led the formal launch of the tournament at the Assumption College San Lorenzo in Makati City on Wednesday.

Joining her were Assumption College San Lorenzo president, Sr. Irene Cecille Torres, RA; Angelica Dela Cruz of San Beda College – Alabang; Juanita Alamillo of Centro Escolar University; and Assumption College Basic Education Department Director for Student Affairs Bernadette Abrilla and Team Leader for Health and Physical Education Gerald Ibuna.

Other members of the country’s first and only tri-level league for women are Assumption Antipolo, 12-straight senior basketball champion Centro Escolar University, Chiang Kai Shek College, La Salle College Antipolo, De La Salle Zobel, Miriam College, Philippine Women’s University, St. Stephen’s High School, San Beda College Alabang, St. Jude Catholic School, St. Paul College Pasig, St. Scholastica’s College (Manila), University of Asia & the Pacific, University of Makati, and University of Santo Tomas – Angelicum College.

They will compete in basketball, volleyball, futsal, chess, badminton, swimming, taekwondo, poomsae, table tennis, tennis, cheer dance/cheerleading, street dance, and 3×3 basketball (midgets only).
