The Society for Community Empowerment and Advocacy (SOCEA), in partnership with the Precious Fountain Foundation (PFF), is organizing the Walk for Africa Education on Thursday, September 4, 2025, to rally community support for education in rural Nigeria.

The walk will begin at 2:00 PM at the Vancouver Art Gallery and conclude at the CBC Vancouver headquarters, bringing together residents, advocates, and supporters to stand in solidarity with children who lack access to basic education.

The initiative seeks to raise $25,000 to support 600 children in Nigeria by providing them with foundational literacy and numeracy skills and nutritious daily meals. Community members are encouraged to participate, donate, and share the message widely.

$7.50 provides education and meals for one child per day.

$41.67 supports one child for an entire year.

“Education is a basic right, not a privilege.

These children did not choose to be underprivileged, but we can choose to stand with them. This walk is an opportunity for Vancouver to raise its voice for global educational justice.” -Sopuruchi Christian
