Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin’s Courtesy Call on Premier RJ Simpson of the Northwest Territories

18 August 2025 – Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin paid a courtesy call on Hon. RJ Simpson, Premier of the Northwest Territories (NWT) to reaffirm mutual commitment to strengthening community and economic relations. The Consul General expressed gratitude for NWT’s longstanding support of the Filipino community, which has flourished in the region since the 1970s.

The Premier highlighted the active role of Filipinos across the territories, noting their contributions to local culture, education, and civic life. Meanwhile, the Consul General highlighted Canada’s Indo-Pacific engagement and expressed hope for a future Free Trade Agreement. Other topics included proposals to strengthen cultural representation and enhance workforce capacity in key sectors, all of which were positively received by the Premier.

The meeting concluded with an invitation for the Premier to visit the Philippines, with both parties committed to advancing shared goals and deepening ties.
