On June 19, 2025, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued invitations to candidates through three immigration pathways.

This latest draw—the province’s sixth this year—includes PEI’s first entrepreneurial invitation of 2025.

PEI’s latest draw issued a total of 52 invitations through the following pathways:

It targeted individuals in key occupations and priority sectors aligned with PEI’s economic needs.

As a result of its reduced nomination spaces, application volumes, and provincial labour market needs, the PEI Office of Immigration is currently selecting and prioritizing skilled workers in high-demand sectors.

The high-demand sectors currently identified include healthcare, trades, and manufacturing.

To date, the province has issued 621 Invitations to Apply (ITA) through its PNPover the course of 2025.

How to be considered by PEI for provincial immigration

Prospective candidates must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the province, indicating they’d like to be considered for a particular stream.

The province then assesses candidates based on one or more of the following criteria:

  • English or French language proficiency;
  • Educational background, including level, field of study, and location of completion;
  • Skills and work experience;
  • Strategic priorities that align with PEI’s immediate labour market needs; and
  • Additional employment-related factors, such as having a job offer from a PEI employer or previous Canadian work experience.

Once an EOI profile has been created, a candidate enters the candidate pool and is ranked against other candidates.

Successful candidates receive invitations to apply for provincial nomination.

Business Impact Category: Work Permit Stream

PEI’s June 19 draw saw one ITA issued to an entrepreneur through the Work Permit Stream.

This stream is for foreign nationals interested in investing in and running a business in PEI. Individuals are required to come to PEI on a work permit and operate the business for one year before they can be nominated for permanent residency.

Certain criteria must be met to be eligible for nomination through the Work Permit Stream, including

  • Having a minimum net worth of $600,000;
  • Meeting language proficiency requirements (CLB 4);
  • Having prior business ownership or extensive management experience;
  • Having a high school diploma (or equivalent); and
  • Intending to work and reside in PEI while actively managing a PEI-based business.

Only those who are between the ages of 21 to 59 at the time they submit an application will be considered.

The Business Impact Category operates on a points grid—the maximum number of points a foreign national can be awarded is 210.
