MANILA – A special task force of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has identified persons of interest behind the killing of a 63-year-old official of the House of Representatives.
PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III said the Special Investigation Task Force (SITG) has been formed to investigate the case of the House employee who was shot while attending his daughter’s birthday celebration in Commonwealth, Quezon City on Sunday.
“May mga persons of interest tayo (We have already persons of interest). The investigation is still ongoing, manhunt operation is still ongoing and we hope to resolve this case as soon as possible,” Torre said in a media interview on Tuesday.
Torre, however, declined to disclose further details of the investigation.
Based on the police report, two unidentified gunmen entered the exclusive venue and shot the victim in the head at close range.
The suspects fled the scene on a motorcycle and fired shots at the subdivision’s guardhouse before escaping.
The police said the crime appeared to have been well-planned.
The victim was rushed to a hospital but was later declared dead by the attending physician.
