Cinema One honors National Artist and Superstar Nora Aunor with month-long festival

Special Mother’s Day tribute featuring “Anak,” “One More Try,” and more

Cinema One puts the spotlight on the late Superstar and National Artist Nora Aunor with a month-long movie festival this May that showcases her most renowned films and memorable performances that influenced Philippine Cinema and moved audiences of many generations.

Witness the award-winning actress in her acting glory in “Minsa’y Isang Gamu-gamo” on May 11, “Bulaklak sa City Jail” on May 18, and “Himala” on May 25. It will air on the cable channel’s Restored Cinema every Sunday, 10pm.

Before Nora became known for her astounding contributions to the Philippine cinema, she began as a singer who won various competitions that helped her transition as an actress. With her tremendous success, she was a FAMAS hall of fame awardee and was the first Filipino to win the Asian Film Award for Best Actress.

From the well-loved Superstar to the Prime Superstar, look back on some of Judy Ann Santos’ memorable films that captivated the hearts of viewers in Cinema One’s Monday Drama. Catch her as the conflicted in love Annie in “Kahit Isang Saglit” on May 12, career woman named Abby in “Don’t Give Up on Us” on May 19, and empowered woman in the titular role in “Sabel” on May 26 at 9pm.

Meanwhile, feel the Mother’s Day love with Cinema One’s special mother’s tribute this month. Don’t miss Sharon Cuneta’s “Madrasta” on May 11, Angel Locsin, Dingdong Dantes, Angelica Panganiban, and Zanjoe Marudo’s “One More Try” on May 18, and Vilma Santos and Claudine Barretto’s “Anak” on May 25, 3pm.
