Australia plans to limit foreign students enrollment to 270K by 2025

ANKARA – The Australian government on Tuesday announced its plans to cap the international students enrollment to 270,000 by 2025.

In a statement, Education Minister Jason Clare said the government announced in May that it would set limits on the number of international students that can be enrolled by international education providers.

Subject to the passage of legislation by the parliament, the government will cap international student at 270,000 in 2025, Clare said.

According to the minister, the number of international students has increased in the universities by 10 percent today as compared to the number before the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Now students are back. There’s about 10 percent more international students in our universities today than before the pandemic and about 50 percent more in our private vocational and training providers,” SBS News quoted Clare as saying while talking to reporters.

Education sector is one of the profitable sectors for Australia as the universities collected about AUD 8.
