Education drive on Charter amendments needed for informed public
Ejercito said various groups should be tapped in the information campaign to spread the right information on the push to amend the Constitution through People’s Initiative (PI).
“We have to inform the people of the real implications kasi akala nung iba away lang ‘yung PI, away lang ng House of Representatives at Senado (because others might think that the fight is just about PI, just a fight between the House of Representatives and the Senate) but there’s more that. I think we really have to educate, inform the people of what is at stake with this push for this Charter change and so-called people’s initiative,” he said in a press briefing.

Amid the “early political bickerings”, Ejercito said the public needed to know what are at stake and get them involved and concerned about the issue.
“Sa tingin ko kaya tahimik eh, marami ang mga hindi nakakaintindi doon sa tunay na mga (I think they are silent because a lot still do not understand what are) at stake regarding the PI,” he said.
The Senate, he added, would like to get involved in the information and education drive about amending the Charter.
