MANILA – The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) has approved a PHP33 increase for daily minimum wage earners in Northern Mindanao (Region 10), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Friday.

The DOLE said the wage board motu proprio issued Wage Order No. RX-22 on Dec. 19, granting a PHP23 daily minimum wage increase across all categories upon effectivity, and an additional PHP10 as second tranche on July 1, 2024.

Upon full implementation, the daily minimum wage rates in the region shall be PHP423 to PHP438 for the non-agriculture sector; and PHP411 to PHP426 for the agriculture sector.

The RTWPB also motu proprio issued Wage Order No. RX-DW-04, increasing the monthly minimum wage of kasambahay (domestic workers) by PHP500 for chartered cities and first-class municipalities and PHP1,500 for other municipalities.

The monthly wage rate for all areas in the region will now be PHP5,000.

The wage orders will be published on Dec. 26 and shall take effect 15 days from publication.

The wage board order will directly benefit 144,133 minimum wage earners in Northern Mindanao.

On the other hand, the wage increases for kasambahays will apply to a total of 54,851 domestic workers, approximately 20 percent or 11,059 of whom are on live-in arrangement.

The new rates for workers in the private sector translate to an 8 percent increase from the prevailing daily minimum wage rates in the region and result in a comparable 23 percent increase in wage-related benefits covering 13th-month pay, service incentive leave, and social security benefits such as Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and Pag-IBIG Fund.

The last wage orders for workers in private establishments and domestic workers in the region were both issued on May 27, 2022 and became effective on June 18, 2022.
