MANILA – Government agencies led by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) have launched a system which digitalizes data collection processes for travelers and crew members arriving in and departing from the Philippines.

The E-Travel Customs System, which is an integration of Electronic Customs Baggage Declaration Form (e-CBDF) and Electronic Currencies Declaration Form (e-CDF) into the eTravel System of the Bureau of Immigration (BI), will bolster national security and streamline customs procedures.

In a news release Wednesday, the BOC said the system which was launched at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 in Parañaque City on Monday is a joint effort with the BI, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio expressed confidence in the system’s potential to revolutionize customs processes.

“This collaborative initiative demonstrates our commitment to innovation and efficiency in customs management. The E-Travel Customs System will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security of our borders and fostering a seamless travel experience for all. We are dedicated to advancing our customs practices, aligning with global standards, and safeguarding the interests of our nation,” he said.

The E-Travel Customs System, a unified digital data collection platform, simplifies the passenger experience at airport terminals.

Its key feature is the Electronic Customs Baggage and Currency Declaration interface, formerly part of the BOC’s I-Declare System, introduced on June 29, 2022.

Rubio said travelers and crew members can now utilize a user-friendly and single web portal which integrates the border control requirements of the BI, Bureau of Quarantine, BOC and the BSP.

He said the system will also enhance the overall passenger experience and enables the BOC to receive advance information for effective risk profiling.

Rubio said the timely sharing of information with AMLC and BSP strengthens the nation’s commitment to combat money laundering and ensure financial security.

“The E-Travel Customs System is a testament to the government’s dedication to providing cutting-edge solutions for border control, aligning with international standards, and advancing towards a more secure and efficient customs environment” he added.
