MANILA – The Chinese Embassy in Manila on Saturday said 36 more Chinese nationals who worked for an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub have been deported.

They left the country with Philippine police escorts on Oct. 13.

“This is the latest step in China-Philippine law enforcement cooperation against POGOs,” the Embassy said in a statement.

“The Chinese Embassy will continue its support in China-Philippine law enforcement cooperation to safeguard healthy social economic and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries,” it added.

The deportation follows the Aug. 1 raid led by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) on Rivendell Global Gaming Corporation in Pasay City.

Upon the PAOCC’s request, the Embassy identified the Chinese nationals among the employees and issued them travel documents.

An initial batch of POGO-employed Chinese workers was deported to China on Sept. 22, the Embassy said.
