‘Faint’ explosion at NAIA T3 parking lot damages 3 cars
MANILA – The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and the Philippine National Police are hunting the culprits behind a reported molotov explosion at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 parking area in Pasay City on Saturday morning.
Initial reports said a noise akin to a weak explosion came from the direction of the open parking area fronting Terminal 3, according to MIAA’s statement posted on Facebook.
“A faint explosion was reported on or about 0930H this morning at the open vehicular parking of NAIA Terminal 3,” read the MIAA statement.
No one was hurt but three vehicles were affected by the improvised flaming device.
According to MIAA, “a glass bottle containing flammable liquid and wrapped with a cloth was shattered, its particles hitting three vehicles parked near where it landed.
Eyewitness reports said that small flames were also seen at the bottom part of the vehicles.
”
Security camera recordings are being reviewed, including those from nearby establishments.
MIAA officer-in-charge Bryan Co urged the community to report suspicious looking individuals and unusual movements. He also asked the police to increase patrol and visibility in public areas.
