NDRRMC: Dodong affected families now at 13.9K
MANILA – Nearly 14,000 families in five regions were affected by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm Dodong, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in its Tuesday update.
A total of 13,929 families, or 47,220 persons, in 135 villages in Regions 1 (Ilocos), 3 (Central Luzon), Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Region 6 (Western Visayas) were either displaced or needed evacuation.
The number rose from 9,223 families the day before.
Of the total, 452 families or 1,788 individuals are in 37 evacuation centers, while 1,413 families equivalent to 3,924 individuals are being helped outside.
The rest were classified as affected but not needing help.
Still undergoing validation is a report of one fatality in Calabarzon, according to the Office of Civil Defense.
Some 73 houses were also reported damaged in Calabarzon and Region 6.
