NCR firms have until Sept. 13 to seek wage hike exemption
MANILA – Private establishments in Metro Manila have until Sept. 13 to file their applications for exemption on the PHP40 minimum wage hike which would take effect later this month.
“All qualified establishments may file their exemption until September 13, 2023,” the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) said in a social media post on Wednesday.
The wage board noted that those that are qualified to file exemptions are retail/service establishments regularly employing not more than 10 workers.
It added that companies adversely affected by natural calamities and/or human-induced disasters are eligible to seek exemption.
On June 26, the RTWPB-NCR issued Wage Order No. NCR-24 granting a PHP40 increase on minimum wage earners in the region.
The increase will adjust the minimum wage rate in NCR from PHPP570 to PHP610 for the non-agriculture sector.
For the agriculture sector, service and retail establishments employing 15 or less workers, and manufacturing establishments regularly employing less than 10 workers, their salaries will increase from PHP533 to PHP573.
The wage order will take effect on July 16 or after 15 days from its publication on June 30.
