Marcos names Danilo Cruz as new TESDA chief
MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has named former Labor Undersecretary Danilo Cruz as the new head of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Malacañang announced Wednesday.
Cruz’s appointment was confirmed by Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles in a statement sent to Palace reporters on Wednesday.
“The Office of the Executive Secretary through Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles confirms the appointment of Danilo Cruz as TESDA Director-General,” the Office of the Press Secretary said.
Cruz served as Undersecretary for Employment and Manpower of the Department of Labor and Employment.
Meantime, Cruz-Angeles also announced the appointment of bowling icon Olivia Garcia “Bong” Coo as Commissioner of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
In a Facebook post, the PSC congratulated Coo as one of the new commissioners of the government sports agency.
“Congratulations to PSC’s new member of the Board of Commissioners. Bowling great and Philippine Sports Hall of Famer Ms. Olivia ‘Bong’ Coo is now a PSC Commissioner,” the PSC said.
Coo also paid a visit to PSC Officer-in-Charge and Executive Director Atty. Guillermo Iroy Jr. at the national sports governing body’s administrative building inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
Coo was a five-time Asian Games gold medalist, 14-time Asian champion and eight-time Southeast Asian Games gold winner.
She was also a member of the National and International Hall of Fame.
Malacañang has yet to release a copy of the appointment papers of Cruz and Coo.
