Laudiangco stays as Comelec spox
MANILA – Acting chairperson Socorro Inting renewed the appointment of lawyer John Rex Laudiangco as the acting spokesperson of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
“Please be advised that you shall continue to be the Acting Spokesperson of the Commission until the assumption of the new Chairman,” Inting said in a memorandum to Laudiangco on Monday.
Laudiangco is concurrently serving as the director of the Comelec’s Law Department. He was initially designated as acting spokesperson by then Comelec chairperson Saidamen Pangarungan in May.
He replaced Comelec’s Education and Information Department (EID) director James Jimenez, who had been serving as the poll body’s spokesperson since 2007.
Laudiangco’s designation lapsed after Pangarungan’s appointment was bypassed by the Commission on Appointments.
Last week, the Comelec en banc designated Inting as its acting chief, being the most senior commissioner.
The other members of the poll body are Commissioner Marlon Casquejo, Aimee Ferolino, and Rey Bulay.
