DepEd eyes Aug. 22 class opening for next school year
MANILA – The Department of Education (DepEd) proposed on Tuesday to start the school year 2022-2023 on August 22.
In a virtual press briefing, Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio announced they planned to cover 215 days of classes for the next school year, starting August 22 up to July 7, 2023, with the school calendar including 11 weeks per quarter.
“Sa darating po na pasukan, blended na po tayo, mas marami rin ‘yung face-to-face, pero hindi tayo papayag na may mga disruptions sa classes in the form of mga activities during the 10 weeks that the quarter is on, lahat po ay turo nang turo, at matututo nang matututo ang mga bata (In the upcoming school year, we will be blended (learning setup), mostly face-to-face, we will not allow disruptions in classes in forms of activities during the 10 weeks that the quarter is on, everyone will continually teach and learners will continue to learn),” he said.
Meanwhile, remedial and advanced summer classes are also targeted to be conducted from July 17 to August 26, 2023.
“Ang proposal po namin dahil kailangan ngang mag-double time, kailangang magkaroon ng additional period para po sa ating (Our proposal, since we need to double time, we need to have an additional period for our) intervention activities at remedial,” he said.
Meanwhile, proposed school breaks include Christmas and New Year’s break from December 19 to January 1, 2023, and mid-year break from February 6 to 10, 2023.
Ideally, end-of-year rites are scheduled from July 10 to 14, next year.

Face to Face is the best way talaga for Students to Learn but still buong mundo are still under pandemic level kaya naman mahirap talaga ibalik basta basta ang lahat sa normal lalo na ang way ng Pag-aaral ng mga Kabataan, pabor ako na magkaroon na muli tayo ng F2F Classes para sa mga Kapatid at Pamangkin ko pero mas matimbang parin sakin ang Safety and Health nila, mismong DepEd naghuhugas kamay lagi na kapag may nangyari sa mga bata ay wala silang pananagutan, tapos pag nagkasakit ang mga bata ang mangyayari sa mga magulang o guardian pa kadalasan ang sisi. For DepEd naman po please make it 2nd week of September again po ang Opening for the next School Year. Teachers, Pupils and Parents badly need a break, too. Thank you very much! Being a teacher for 15 years I have encountered many drawbacks in teaching but the one that takes the top would definitely be the 2020 pandemic for it has change the learning system drastically. From being physically present and able to observe what teaching style would work for a student to setting a class online and not knowing if this would system truly work for the student because it’s the only option we had and we all teachers we’re on-pins-and-needles state. Learning that DepEd is looking forward in blending the classes again with F2F is definitely a sign of relief because this would open again the teaching system that was effective to our students once again.

The Covid-19 pandemic has been underway on for about two years. Everyone is affected differently, particularly our educational system, which embraces new modes of learning such as blended learning, modular learning, and online learning. According to my observations, many students are apathetic in learning and answering to their activities, thus their parents are the ones who answer to those modules for them to submit on a given day. According to the article, the limited face-to-face class will initiate in the school year 2022-2023 on August 22 and I agree with this. Students possess a variety of abilities and skills. Hence, students must learn more and develop their cognitive, psychomotor and affective from both the subject matter and the teacher. There are many things they missed during the pandemic, so students need to learn more and develop holistically because our curriculum today aims to develop critical thinkers and globally competitive learners.

Sa muling pagbubukas ng face to face class ng mga estudyante sana masiguro muna na safe na sila lalo ang mga bata mula sa banta ng CoVid19.Mas mabuti na rin na maibalik ang face to face kahit limited lang ang importante may magtuturo ng mga guro sa mga estudyante at may matutunan sila sa kanilang mga aralin lalo na ang mga nasa elementarya.Mas kailangan nila ang gabay ng mga guro sa pagtuklas ng mga bagong kaalaman na itinuturo sa mga eskwelahan.Sa ganong paraan..hindi na maoobliga ang mga magulang o kapatid ng mga batang ito na sila ang magsagot sa mga modules nila.Kase nung kasagsagan ng pandemic at modular learning ang mga bata..mga nanay at tatay o di kaya ate at kuya o tito ang sumasagot sa mga modules nila.Walang matutunan ang bata pag ganon..kase nakapasa nga siya sa modular learning pero hindi niya nagamit yung sariling galing at kakayahan niya kung pano maipasa ang bawat asignatura.

It’s a good news for us as a student because we really miss face to face classes, online class is not really effective for us. But Make sure that the school facilities are sanitize and clean, and safety protocols should be follow to avoid students getting covid infection. The school must be prepared to undergo face to face classes. Yes i would agree if the opening of class is on August as long as the covid infection are low and of course oet the student a freedom to choose if he or she want to go to school for face to face classes because i know there are still people who are afraid to go out because of covid 19, so parent consent is a must.

I don’t think it is the proper time to start up the face to face classes. I am not anti-education here or what. I just wanted to say that there is no guarantee that students to be affected by the virus have health assistance from the government to assure us parents that if ever they acquire the said virus, our government is liable to secure every child’s endeavor. Parents have to sign a waiver that the school is not liable to our child. There’s no assurance that our students will be protected by the government. So parents like us will just have to take the risk. It should be win-win situation to both. That’s all.

Its okay if it will start in August. Ang importante at makapag aral at matutukan talaga ang pag aaral ng mga bata lalo na yung hindi pa gaano kaya mag-aral mag-isa na kailangan talaga ng totoong maestra

Looking forward to more face to face classes by this school year. What’s important is that the adults (teachers, non teaching personnel, staff) are full vaccinated, so that the kids are protected. Education is very important and modules aren’t enough, it’s necessary that kids have socialization too, being cooped up inside the houses is not good for their physical and mental health. If kids are already allowed in public playgrounds and all other outdoor activities then why are schools different?

It’s good that the face-to-face classes will be back for the next school year, but I hope the faculty won’t just focus on the learning of the children but also to their health. Since we can’t say that we are not totally doomed by the Pandemic, we still need to be careful. Wearing face mask should be mandatory and let the students be aware of the restrictions. Going back to the way we used to be is not that easy, we should take it slowly. We are not in a race and take the risk to the children. What I am trying to say is that the faculty of schools should be very careful with their every decision, at the end of the day children’s learnings will be unworthy if they’ll just get sick because of the negligence of the school.

Sana magtuloy na ang face to face classes upang maraming matutunan ang mga bata at maturuan ng maayus at maintinddihan nila ang kanilang mga pinag aaralan.

Wala tayong magagawa kung yan talaga ang memo ng deped.Magpasalamat na lng tayo dahi magkakaroon na ng face to face classes hindi na mahihirapan ang mga bata sa pag momodule.

para po sa akin mabuti talagang mag face to face class na po para matutu po tlaga yung mga bata kase kung parating module parang nahihirapan yung mga bata kase hnd nman na discuss ng guro kaya mas mainam na mag face to face class na talaga
