Take time to reflect with GMA Life TV and GMA News TV’s Holy Week specials this April
GMA Life TV and GMA News TV have special programming dedicated to Kapuso all over the world to contemplate, renew their faith, and do some soul searching.
On GMA Life TV, “Biyahe ni Drew” opens April 14, Maundy Thursday featuring the “Holy Land,” Israel with a backpacking journey through Bethlehem, Nazareth, Jerusalem, and Jericho. On April 15, Good Friday, Drew will take viewers to the historical land of Ancient Jordan.
On April 16, Black Saturday, watch Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards’ Lockdown: Food Diaries where he will give a glimpse of the lives of workers in the food sector and be inspired by their dedication to keeping the supply chain running.
Meanwhile, Reel Life Weekend gives a glance at different life stories in its “Slice-of-life Indie Films.” On April 2, “Biyaheng Lupa” brings us to a bus ride that unfolds the stories of each passenger from all walks of life top-billed by Jaclyn Jose, Coco Martin, Angel Aquino, and Eugene Domingo. This film won Cinemanila’s Digital Lokal Grand Jury Prize in 2009.
Then on April 9, catch the movie “Kubrador,” headlined by Gina Pareño, Fonz Deza, and Nanding Josef, which tells the life of an aging bet collector who finds her mundane existence suddenly transformed by unexpected twists.
Come April 23, an award-winning comedy indie film “Requieme” starring Shamaine Buencamino and Rez Cortez, gives viewers a complete picture of the Filipino’s unspoken family burial traditions, sexual politics, and scandals.
Pet lovers can look forward to the movie “Da Dog Show,” a true story of a man engaged in trick shows in the streets of Manila, featuring Mercedes Cabral, Almira Alcid, and Lou Veloso.
Likewise, GMA News TV presents special programming in observation of the Lenten season.
On Maundy Thursday, the whole family can bond and watch together for Atom Araullo’s documentary film “Philippine Seas” and see the unique marine species and ocean wonders of the Philippines. Have a series marathon of “Front Row” best episodes such as “Pasan,” “Batang Bomba,” “Padre Kabalyero,” “Big Heart,” “Heroes of Itogon,” and “Bangka ng Pag-asa.”
Feeding Filipino’s curiosity, “I Juander” brings a gastronomic adventure through its Pinoy Food Special episodes such as “Usapang Adobo,” “Tsokolate ni Juan,” “Ano-ano’ng Mga Tinapay ang Patok kay Juan,” and “Luzvimin Foodtrip.”
Welcome Good Friday with Pamana: Saving Our Heritage, a timely travel-environmental documentary that delves into the issues of some of the country’s heritage sites, hosted by Kapuso veteran journalists Kara David, Raffy Tima, and Mariz Umali.
“Reel Time” presents award-winning episodes such as New York Festival winner “Hawla” which is about a mom who is living inside a birdcage because of her psychological state, “Gutom” which won the Most Outstanding Full-Length Film Honors of Save the Children Media Awards, tackling the malnourishment situation in the Philippines, and New York Festivals finalist “ThisAbled” that tells the story of a man without legs and arms.
On Good Friday also, “I Juander” will show the tourist spots of “Israel.”
GMA News TV opens Black Saturday with Dokumentaryo (I-Witness Classics) featuring two of its notable episodes “Misteryo sa Monasteryo” which investigates the miraculous events in Mt. Carmel monastery and “Gulong ng Pag-asa” presenting the lives of three persons who keep on thriving despite their disability.

This is a nice program during Holy week because we can remember the importance of the Holy Week celebrations and we as a Christians can learn much about Jesus through the last week of his life.
